At the suggestion of a lover, Jay blanched. "No, nothing like that." She blurted all too quickly. She felt her cheeks redden. Love? Ha, that was something she had not the time to think about, especially lately. "No, it's something that has to do with family." She opened up a little more in her explanation, though decided against spilling it all on this poor girl. She eyed the ring on her finger, it was silver with a turquoise stone set in the middle of it. The thing was heavy, a good product- and one of the few things she took from home. It had been a gift from some family member- not her parents of course. No, nothing from her parents. But it was pretty- and Jay often found herself wearing it, despite its connection to family, the family she decided against staying with due to their cold antics. Hmph.

"Ah, family problems."

Katarine nodded sympathetically before drawing her knees closer to her chest in an attempt to conserve body heat. Love problems would have been considered preferable to that. She had had her fair share of family issues in the past too, and none of them had been resolved in a satisfactory manner, although that was not a topic that she liked to dwell upon. Even not now, when she was hundreds of miles away from her only known relative - and one that she hated at that.

"Maybe you guys just need to sit down and talk it over?" Katarine suggested lightly, very much aware of how much of a hypocrite she was. With a sudden exhalation of air from her mouth, she flopped back hard against the grass, ignoring as something hard and rock-like jutted into the skin of her shoulder.
